ImageVisit the ruins of ancient Amman at the Citadel, which has numerous Roman, Byzantine and early Islamic remains.
Important structures located at the Citadel:
* The Byzantine Church, which includes columns that are remains of a small Byzantine church dated from the 6th-7th century AD.

* Temple of Hercules, or the Great Temple of Amman as it is known today, dated from 161-180 AD.

* The Palace (‘Al-Qaser’), which has the most impressive building of the Citadel dated back to the Islamic Umayyad period around 720 AD. The building includes a monumental gateway, cruciform audience hall and four vaulted chambers.

* Visit the impressive National Archaeological Museum at the Citadel, and admire the views of the modern city from the top of the highest hill in Amman.
