City in a Day

(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

altIf you have only one day in Berlin, the most important thing to do is plan a longer holiday so you will have more time in the city!

Berlin is a fascinating place. Just the tourist attractions could keep you busy for weeks, and that’s not taking into account the hidden treasures one might find when just minding one’s own business in the city.

To make sure that you visit the most famous sites however, you’ll have to make the day as long as possible. Get up early and visit the Brandenburg Gate, the most famous symbol of Berlin, then walk down Unter den Linden and have coffee and pastry at one of the cafes along the edges off this boulevard. Next, a quick photo in front of the Reichstag. Visit the Gemäldegalerie to see some of the world's greatest masterpieces, or if you are not into art, walk to the Alexanderplatz and take the elevator up the TV tower.

Take a train to Charlottenburg and see the Schloss Charlottenburg, one of the finest examples of baroque architecture in Germany. Have lunch in the stylish restaurants in that area such as Le Petit France.

In the evening, visit the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, walk along the Kurfürstendamm, and spoil yourself by dining at one of the gourmet restaurants on the 6th floor of the KaDeWe.

Alternatives could be going to the Museum Island or spending the afternoon in the Tiergarten area (Park, Zoo and Palaces)
