The Gold Souk

ImageWhat is a visit to Dubai without  a visit to the Gold Souk! Even if you do not intend to buy anything you must visit this place for the sheer feel of it. Here everything that glitters is really gold! One thing that strikes a visitor  as amazing is the lack of security personnel in the market. With  shop upon shop laden with the precious metal one would expect a tight security and scrutiny system but that is not the case here as people in Dubai are as honest as they come. (strict punishment too is responsible for this attitude)

Gold, whether it is 18, 22 or 24 carats, is sold by weight according to the rate of the day. However the making charges leave much room for negotiation. With a large number of shops for you to linger on and explore, don’t be in a hurry to buy till you’ve done your share of surveying and comapring designs and prices for you’re sure to get a piece of jewelry that suits your taste as well as your budget!
