City in a Day

(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

altThere is generally not a whole lot of sightseeing to do in Jakarta. There are some historical quarters and museums that we recommend you visiting to get a feel for the old town. If one is traveling with family then spending it in the Ancol Dreamland or at the safari or at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah can easily pass the day.

Start your day of by exploring the old town, the Batavia, to get an idea of Jakarta in the olden days. It’s also recommended to pay a visit to the Jakarta History Museum, Ceramic and Art Museum as well as the Puppet Museum. For lunch eat at Café Batavia. Head towards Chinatown and then pass the historical Jakarta Kota Train Station. Later in the day visit the National Monument and the National Museum. Jakarta can be viewed from a bird’s eye from the National Monument Observation deck. In the evening, one can indulge in retail therapy at one of the malls (Plaza Semanggi) or go souvenir shopping.
