City in a Day

(0 votes, average 0 out of 5)

altIf you must visit this city in one day then start it off with a ram ride on Tram 28. As explained in the ‘Transport - Buses’ section, this tram’s route takes you through the ‘Old Town’ of Lisbon and you’ll pass by a few of the city’s attractions. One of the best to hop off the tram for is Castelo de Sao Jorge. When you are done climbing the ramparts to see the beautiful view from the castle, walk around the twisting maze that is the streets of Alfama, in this area you’ll find the Pois Cafe, among other great local eateries. However your visit to Lisbon cannot be without a visit to Padrao dos Descobrimentos – you simply must see it! Take a train out to Belem and take a walk or bus from the station to get there, stopping at Mosteiro dos Jeronimos along the way. At night, head back to Alfama and sit in Clube de Fado (Rua de Sao Joao da Praca, +218 852 704, www.clube-de-fado.com) taking in Portugal’s legendary music; alternatively you can head to Barrio Alto to experience the night life of Lisbon.
