The grandest church in Montreal, and one of the best surviving examples of Victorian style Gothic architecture in the world. Free entry for worshippers, but usually a $5 fee is charged from visitors, especially foreign tourists. Needless to say, reverence must be maintained at all times, and chatting or laughing loudly, or photographing prohibited parts, does not result in pleasant consequences. Photography is also not allowed while church service is in session. Whichever religion you belong to, you are sure to be enthralled by the zealous mass service on Sundays. The church also offers religious and social services like marriage, baptism, and funeral arrangements, and you might be lucky to catch a glimpse if they allow visitors during the ceremony. Free concerts are also organized by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra in mid-July.
