ImageThough the Métro is a very efficient means of transportation, it is better to use buses for some routes as bus rides definitely enable one to see more of the city. The bus system, like the Métro system, is quite good for tourists as it uses the same single-ride tickets as the Métro and Carte Orange, a weekly or monthly coupon. Electronic sign boards display the current location as well as the upcoming stops, making it easier for tourists to get off at the right stops. The stops themselves carry signs that list the buses that stop there and a map showing all the stops and routes along with bus timings.Night buses, Noctambuses, run on several routes from 1am to 5:30am, from Monday to Saturday, and reduced service on Sundays. The night bus service goes through Place de Châtelet from near the Hôtel de Ville and the suburbs and requires separate tickets which allow one change. However, weekly or monthly passes are also available and usable on these night buses. For travel within central Paris and for five zones including the airports, a mobilis day pass comes in very handy. Additionally, Paris Visites carry one, two, three, and five day passes for Paris and its immediate suburbs, from zones 1 to 3, and transport to the airports, Versailles, and Disneyland, from zones 1 to 5. Children’s tickets naturally cost less and are available for purchase at the airports and various stations.
